MINI COMPANION ALBUMS

You can now order matching mini companion albums with one easy click of the button!  Companion albums must be ordered together with the main album and are economically priced because of this.  They are the easiest add on sale to any album package and are perfect for parents, friends or to carry around in a hand bag.

• The companion album will be 7x5½" with the same layout and cover material as the main album
• The companion album will be packaged in a black presentation box - not a slipcase
• Additional upgrades such as Vellum papers, Printed Linings and Studio Logo Embossing will be NOT BE included in the companion album

Album cover & slipcase design

You will need to design your album cover and slipcase in Photoshop or Canva using our templates.   These templates will clearly show the front and back cover areas, spine size as well as the album cover wrap areas.  Album covers templates are green, whilst slipcase cover templates are grey as per the samples below.  Download the templates on our Lifestyle Book cover design webpage.

We have also created a range of Lifestyle cover designs in Canva, you can use for free, to help make designing easier.  You don't have to use these designs but they are there if you need them!  Go to the Lifestyle Book cover design webpage for information on how to use these designs like the examples below.

Album page design

Creating a Seldex album is easy!  Whether you're new to designing layouts or are a seasoned professional, we're here to help you every step of the way.  

You cannot design your albums directly on our website as we do not have our own album design software, but we do provide recommendations for programs that we love in - in particular Pixellu Smart Albums or Fundy Designer.  Alternatively, if you don't want to do the design yourself, we do offer an album design service that you can take advantage of.  For information on the Seldex design service or design software options available check out our Album Design web page.

File upload

You will need to upload your album files to these specifications - 

Size: you must upload double page spreads - for example a 10x10" album file should be 20x10"
File format:  JPEG
Colour space:   ADOBE RGB (1998) or sRGB
Pixels per inch:  300dpi

IMPORTANT
It is very important that your album layouts are correctly named to ensure they are mounted in the correct order.  For example 001, 002, 003 etc.  Most album design programs will export your files with the correct file names but it is a good idea to check these before uploading.  Please do not add any characters to your files names such as *, /, \, @, etc.

Image cover material

Image Covers can be printed on either Silk or Paper.  Both the Silk and Paper Image Covers are laminated to protect your image.

• Silk - cloth material with a slightly textured weave
• Paper - smooth, fine art matte paper

• Black
• White
• Printed Linings - Seldex design
• Printed Linings - your own design

If you are creating your own printed linings please note the files must be uploaded the same specifications as the album pages - as below:

Files: Double page spreads - for example for a 10x10" album the spread needs to be sized at 20x10"

Slipcase base material

The Slipcase is created in 2 sections.  The external cover that has your image wrapped on it, and the internal slipcase base.  You can choose the base colour from the following material ranges:

• Linen
• Asahi
• Buckram

We have various options for viewing material swatches.  We highly encourage everyone to invest in our physical material swatches so your clients can touch and see the different materials as colours viewed on computer monitors can vary.  We do have the option to view material colours online or you can also download digital swatches.

Studio logo embossing

You can have your studio logo embossed inside the front cover, on the fly leaf or inside the back cover when you order our Standard Black or White linings.  Studio Logos can not be embossed on Printed linings.  When ordering you will have the following choices appear:

• Yes - use existing die
• Yes - new studio die required

If this is your first time ordering a Studio Logo Embossing you must select the option "Yes - new studio die required".  This is more expensive as it includes the one off cost for us to create your metal embossing die.  Please remember to upload a black and white hi res jpeg of your studio logo when uploading your album files and to let us know the width you would like your studio logo to be.  For future orders you can then select the less expensive "Yes - use existing die" option as your die will have been manufactured.

To avoid the studio embossing surcharge we suggest adding your full colour logo to the first or last double page album spread instead. 

Ever heard the saying "you can't sell a secret"?  You need to show what you want to sell and the best way to do this is to invest in sample products so your clients can touch and feel the quality of your albums.  We understand this can be an expensive process and therefore offer a 30% discount on any album purchased for your studio display.  This applies to a maximum of 3 albums per year and each album is watermarked with STUDIO SAMPLE.  Studio sample albums ARE NOT for resale to customers.

Sample albums are your choice - you choose the size, number of pages, cover material and options. This allows you to design a display album tailored to suit your own brand and price point.  If you are new to albums and are not sure how to design an album, or don't want to invest in an album design software, then we can design the album for you at a very low cost.  Details on our design service or design software can be found on our Album Design webpage.
